FOUR swimmers from Haringey Aquatics have qualified for this year’s Summer National Championships to continue what has been a record-breaking year for the club.
Tottenham’s Shakil Giordani and Crouch End’s Max Hanson will both be competing in the British Summer Championships, which are being held at the end of July at Ponds Forge International Pool in Sheffield.
Giordani, who is the club’s first swimmer to qualify for multiple events at the British Nationals, will compete in the 50metres butterfly, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle in the 15-years-old category. Hanson, who at 14 is Haringey Aquatics youngest ever national qualifier, will swim in the 50m breaststroke (13-14 years).
To qualify for the British Nationals, swimmers must post a time that ranks them in the top 24 in Britain for their age group.
Meanwhile, Haringey Aquatics will also be represented at the English Summer National Championships held in Sheffield at the beginning of August, where the next 20 swimmers in the British ranking system are selected.
Giordani will compete in the 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly (15 years), Alex Vonckx will compete in the 100m and 200m backstroke as well as the 200m individual medley (15 years) and Renat Samur will compete in 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly (15 years).
