Defeat deals a blow to Enfield Borough’s promotion hopes

ENFIELD BOROUGH’S winning run came to an end on Monday when they were beaten 4-2 at home by MK Gallacticos in Division Two of the Spartan League.

The hosts were stunned on six minutes when a strike from the visitors’ forward found the net after hitting the inside of the posts.

Borough started to make some promising attacks as they tried to get back into the game, but they fell further behind at the end of a swift counter-attack on 20 minutes.

There were no further goals prior to the interval, but the hosts found themselves facing a real uphill task after they conceded again ten minutes into the second half when keeper Milvydas Lukosius came out to clear the ball and made no contact – leaving the visiting forward to slot into an empty net.

The game became increasingly stretched as Borough pushed more men forward and they got caught out on the break again as Guy Kiangebeni conceded a penalty which was converted to leave them 4-0 behind.

The hosts finally opened their account with 18 minutes remaining as Henderson Browne scored with a free-kick from the end edge of the box and they struck again five minutes later – Tage Kennedy finding the net after being set up by Brian Tshibangu.

But, although Borough continued to apply pressure for the rest of the game, they were unable to score again as they slumped to a defeat which dealt a blow to their promotion hopes.
