SPURS centre half Toby Alderweireld admitted his frustration after the Tottenham were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool at Anfield.
Sadio Mane scored twice in two first half minutes to send the Lilywhites crashing to their first defeat in ten Premier League matches.
The Belgian international defender told the club’s website: "Normally aggression and desire are our strengths so it’s difficult to explain, "At half-time we discussed how they tried to put pressure on us and maybe we needed to go a bit longer and pick up the second balls and create problems there. We did that better (in the second half) but not as well as we normally play."
Alderweireld, one of five Spurs players to go into the referee’s book, added: "We wanted to do better and it’s better that you see this frustration and that we care but we have to put our strength and energy into the next game now."
* Spurs, who remain in second place despite the defeat, travel to Alderweireld’s home land this week for Thursday’s Europa Cup clash with Gent.
